Published by Patrick “Pea Jacket” Maguire, the weekly, it is the first Irish-American newspaper in Boston. Its purpose is to promote “all things Irish,” condemn “all things Republican as anti-Irish,” and “advocate the cause and advance the interests of the Irish people both in Ireland and America.” The paper is acquired by John F. Fitzgerald in 1901, and continues to publish until 1926.
